• Mercedes-Maybach will build a luxury minivan based on the VLE called the VLS.
  • It will be a ‘true Maybach,’ according to the automaker.
  • It should go on sale by late next year.

Mercedes-Benz has a new minivan, one it plans to sell in the United States. Like most Mercedes products, Maybach will create an ultra-luxurious version called the VLS, and we have our first teaser.

The photo shows off the Maybach badge on the D-pillar, the chrome window surrounds, and the sparkling paint. Most of the upgrades will be inside, with Maybach upping the level of luxury of its grand limousine. The automaker previewed the minivan less than a year ago with the Vision V concept.

Mercedes says the VLS will offer a lot of space and “an uncompromising commitment to the rear passenger,” which includes “a completely new world of comfort and digital sophistication.” It’sa “true Maybach,” according to the automaker.

The automaker does not say when we should expect the Mercedes-Maybach VLS to arrive. The VLE isn’t expected to go on sale in the United States until sometime next year, and the Maybach version will likely arrive sometime after that. We wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t hit the market until late 2027.

Motor1’s Take: Americans have missed out for far too long on luxury minivans. They are more versatile than an SUV and just as comfortable as sedan, with far more space for high-end luxury amenities. Luxury crossovers are out, and luxury minivans are in.
