Penta gave Reigns one of his toughest challenges yet, hitting the champion with two Mexican Destroyers and coming extremely close to winning the title. However, Reigns eventually retained the World Heavyweight Championship.

With his world title opportunity now behind him, here are four possible directions for Penta.

#4. Move Penta to WWE SmackDown

Moving Penta to SmackDown could give him a completely different group of opponents and prevent him from immediately falling back into the same collection of RAW feuds.

The blue brand currently has a stacked Undisputed WWE Championship scene, and Penta could eventually work his way into that picture.

If not the world title, then the United States Title could also give the luchador his next major goal. His run with the Intercontinental Championship proved that he has the ability to elevate a midcard title, something he could do with the US Title as well.

A brand switch would also give WWE a chance to present Penta as a fresh singles star.

#3. Reunite The Lucha Brothers

Penta could also put his singles ambitions aside and reunite with Rey Fenix. The brothers have spent much of their WWE runs apart, with both getting opportunities to establish themselves individually.

However, Fenix has previously indicated that a Lucha Brothers reunion is a matter of when rather than if. He has also explained that their time apart has allowed both men to showcase themselves individually.

With Penta’s world title opportunity now over, the global juggernaut could finally bring the two back together and make the tag team division their next objective.

#2. Return to the Intercontinental Championship picture

Another option would be to put Penta back into the Intercontinental Championship scene. Zero Miedo previously held the title before losing it to Chad Gable at SummerSlam, and Gable remains the champion after successfully defending against Dragon Lee in Mexico City.

Penta returning to the division would therefore give WWE an established challenger with a history with Gable, especially since the luchador never received a rematch for the title.

The creative team would have to avoid making him feel like he is simply moving backward, but a renewed rivalry with Gable could be an effective way to rebuild him after the loss to Reigns.

#1. Focus on qualifying for Money in the Bank

Penta could also turn his attention toward Money in the Bank. The Men’s Ladder Match is still taking shape, with Bron Breakker and Je’Von Evans currently qualified from RAW. The creative team has not yet filled the remaining spots, meaning Penta could still become part of the match if the company gives him a qualifying opportunity.

After coming so close to defeating Reigns in Mexico City, Penta entering the Money in the Bank Ladder Match would maintain his momentum while giving him another potential route toward a championship.

A victory would also change the dynamic completely. Penta would no longer need to wait for another title opportunity to be handed to him; he could earn the right to choose when and where he gets his next shot.
