Ahead of SmackDown, Chelsea Green shared an update where she called herself the “permanent champion,” something that she has been claiming for several weeks. Since Nick Aldis gave Green 30 days to recover from her broken orbital bone and to become medically cleared, Green has seen herself as the main champion on SmackDown.

Rhea Ripley was recently forced to undergo surgery for the injury she suffered back at Clash in Italy. There was speculation that WWE believed she would be able to avoid surgery and be back sooner, which was why an “interim” champion was crowned, but now that she is expected to be out of action until 2027, Green appears to have taken her place.

As noted and shown in the image below, Rhea Ripley is no longer seen as a champion on WWE.com.

Chelsea Green has already been cleared to return to the ring

Just a week after winning the Women’s Championship, a lifelong dream for Green, she suffered a broken orbital bone, which meant that she was unable to compete or defend her title.

Nick Aldis was prepared to strip her of the title because of WWE higher-ups, but he later went back on this decision and decided to allow Green to compete if she could be cleared in time.

Green has been cleared and competed last week on SmackDown, but the issue she has now is that there is a target on her back, and many women in the locker room want a shot at her title and what they consider a weakened champion.

Chelsea Green started wearing facial protection last week, and it was while wearing the mask that she appeared to re-injure herself, so it will be interesting to see what happens on tonight’s SmackDown.
