Speaking on Sports Illustrated, John Cena promoted his upcoming film Coyote vs. Acme, and the host asked Cena about his greatest rivals in the ring. The Franchise Player revealed that he couldn’t get one over The Undertaker even though he’s got a win over Brock Lesnar.

“Goodness, I know there’s a lot of folks who have my number as far as the WWE ring. [I] haven’t done well against The Undertaker. Even if I’ve been put in the win column against somebody like Brock Lesnar, I still have got the c**p kicked out of me,” Cena said.

From 2002 to 2004, John Cena and The Undertaker were on the same brand and had a couple of singles matches on the weekly product. While Cena got two wins in the past, the 49-year-old veteran couldn’t score a win against The Deadman at The Grandest Stage of Them All, which he pointed out in his recent interview.

What’s next for WWE legend John Cena?

Last year, John Cena officially announced his retirement from professional wrestling and lost to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Later, Cena returned to WWE as the host of WrestleMania 42 and opened up about his retirement on WWE Unreal.

Later, The Franchise Player appeared at Backlash in Florida and announced the John Cena Classic, where superstars from any brand will be eligible to participate, and fans will seemingly have a say in it. While the details were pretty vague at the time, the company is reportedly moving ahead with it.

According to False Finish, the company is looking to hold the John Cena Classic on 12th December 2026. It will be almost a year since the 17-time world champion retired from the industry. As of writing, no location has been revealed or announced for the event. Cena’s next appearance for the company could take place in December.
