Fans attending the show will have the opportunity to meet the former WWE Superstar before the event. The promotion has announced meet-and-greet packages priced at $30 for an autograph, $30 for a photo, or $50 for a combined autograph and photo package.

While Heidenreich’s appearance is expected to be one of the event’s biggest attractions, 1UP Wrestling has also put together a stacked card for Island Showdown.

In the night’s main event, Sebastian Braun will defend the 1UP Wrestling Championship against former WWE Superstar Chris Adonis, who competed under the name Chris Masters. Meanwhile, the 1UP Wrestling Tag Team Championship will be on the line as High Seas defend their titles against the debuting team of Prime Time.

Jon Heidenreich competed in WWE during the mid-2000s. The 57-year-old is best remembered for his rivalry with The Undertaker throughout 2004 and 2005. He later shifted gears and joined forces with Road Warrior Animal to form a new version of the legendary Legion of Doom. The powerhouse duo successfully captured the Tag Team Championship on SmackDown.

Heidenreich ultimately departed the Stamford-based promotion in 2006 and spent several years competing on the independent circuit. He stepped away from active in-ring competition back in 2018. He has maintained a very quiet public profile since his departure from the industry, making this weekend’s booking a significant surprise for longtime fans.

Former WWE star admits he once wanted to make Vince McMahon “pay” after release

Jon Heidenreich reflected on one of the darkest periods of his life, revealing the emotional toll his WWE release took.

Speaking during an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Heidenreich admitted that he wanted to return to the sports entertainment juggernaut but never did.

The former WWE star then brought up a storyline idea for a potential return, in which he would have blamed Vince McMahon for taking away everything he had built in professional wrestling. He pitched abducting Vince and making him pay.

“My thing is, you cut me, you took my life from me, you took my world. That was my world, and I was gonna abduct him and make him pay and I guess try to make him re-sign me or something, but it was going to be kind of outside, not just getting back to wrestling, being like he robbed me of everything. Because it was a big thing.”

While the idea never made it to television, it remains one of the more unusual creative concepts Heidenreich has shared publicly.
