Fans have expressed doubts over the long-term booking for the new Champion, and there have also been concerns about whether he needed to win the Title in the first place. Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff addressed the dramatic Title change.

Bischoff said the result was surprising but praised Sami Zayn’s talent and discipline. However, he said he didn’t see him in this role.

“He’s obviously talented, you know, and he’s obviously disciplined and committed. So, a lot of things to respect, but in that role, frankly, I didn’t see it. Still don’t,” he said.

The former RAW general manager said he could be wrong, admitting he was mistaken about Danhausen. He then said that perhaps WWE has access to data that drives such decisions, but he mentioned Zayn’s big win is still a question mark for him.

“WWE has access to data that probably we don’t even understand. But they are going to have so much access to so much information. Does that data tell them something that we don’t see as fans?….So I don’t know, but it’s going to be interesting to see because on the surface it’s a question mark for me,” he added.

Sami Zayn responds to criticism of his WWE Championship win

Sami Zayn’s Title win has divided opinion in the wrestling community, with some arguing that the Canadian star doesn’t have the look of a main event WWE star.

Speaking on Don, Hahn & Rosenberg on ESPN New York, the Underdog from Underground responded to this criticism.

He said it’s alright if some people don’t like him, but having a fixed idea of how a Champion should look shows a lack of intelligence. He also asked fans to broaden their horizons, saying, “Nothing needs to be anything,” and he has put in the work in the last few years.
