Here are four possible directions for Dominik Mysterio following his recent setback:
#4. Quits The Jugdment Day and treads his own path
Dominik Mysterio’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Oba Femi exposed a fundamental flaw: his overreliance on The Judgment Day has made him look weak. During the King of the Ring semifinal, JD McDonagh’s interference did absolutely nothing to slow down Femi, proving that the protection of the group can no longer shield Mysterio during the time of need. This could prompt Dirty Dom to think that he no longer needs his faction since it’s doing him no good.
For the past few years, Dominik Mysterio has operated under the safety net of The Judgment Day. Walking away from the faction would be the ultimate way to force himself into a desperate character-building evolution. By striking out entirely on his own, the former Intercontinental Champion would be forced to adapt. Mysterio could reinvent his in-ring style and finally figure out how to win matches and capitalize on the big moments without a support system.
#3. Shift his full focus to the AAA Mega Championship
Even after being physically decimated on Monday Night Raw, Dominik Mysterio still holds a major chip on his shoulder as he is the reigning AAA Mega Champion. Now that he has no other things on the table, the 29-year-old can shift his full focus to his coveted title. Shifting his focus entirely to the AAA Mega Championship is a brilliant way to rehab his image after the King of the Ring loss. Mysterio can work more regularly on AAA promotion to deliver some great feuds and storylines.
He could defend the AAA Mega Championship cross-promotionally, bringing a massive amount of mainstream attention to himself while building a reputation as a workhorse champion. This move would allow Dominik Mysterio to brag about being a global standard to mask his psychological trauma from the Oba Femi match. Bragging about his coveted title from another promotion would perfectly fuel his delusions of grandeur and give him a concrete reason to claim he has outgrown the WWE roster entirely.
#2. Starts a revolt against JD McDonagh and Raquel Rodriguez
In the wake of a truly embarrassing loss, a classic villain never blames himself and instead, he finds a scapegoat. Dominik Mysterio can do the same, as he can easily point his finger directly at JD McDonagh for failing to protect him from Oba Femi’s wrath. McDonagh’s intervention in the semi-final was entirely ineffective, resulting in both he and Dom getting laid out simultaneously. Therefore, Mysterio could claim that the current iteration of the Judgment Day has grown soft, weakened, and incompetent, taking shots at everyone.
Meanwhile, Raquel Rodriguez also lost her Queen of the Ring semi-final match against IYO SKY this week on RAW. Therefore, she could shift the blame to Liv Morgan for not helping her out at the ringside. This could create a massive split within The Jugdment Day in which Dominik and Liv could be on one side while McDonagh and Rodriguez could be on the other. This might eventually lead to a mixed tag team feud between the members of The Jugdment Day.
#1. Dominik Mysterio gets ditched by Liv Morgan
The biggest possible direction for Dominik Mysterio after his heartbreaking loss on RAW is for him to suffer yet another heartbreak. His relationship with Liv Morgan could shatter infront of his very eyes as the latter could dump her for good. The two superstars have been WWE’s ultimate dominant power couple. However, Morgan’s character is fundamentally driven by success, calculated manipulation and status. Meanwhile, Mysterio keeps suffering setbacks after setbacks, destroying the perception that he could be a perfect partner.
As a result, The Miracle Kid could decide that Dom has become a liability to her and break up with him. Getting dumped by Liv Morgan would leave Dominik Mysterio completely isolated, heartbroken and deeply humiliated. It is the perfect catalyst to trigger a massive emotional breakdown, stripping away his arrogance and confidence and resetting Mysterio’s character for an incredible redemption arc on Monday Night Raw.
