The New Day recently left WWE after they were asked to take a pay cut. Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live said that the people who would be losing money were those in the upper midcard, many of whom were being asked to take pay cuts in their contracts. He said that if someone was lower on the roster, they would likely not be asked, while Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and others like them were safe, too.

“These people who have been asked to restructure their deals are people who are in the upper midcard-ish, maybe even higher than that. The ones I’ve heard they’ve been around a long time, and they have been making a lot of money. And we’re not talking a guy like Roman Reigns, or a guy like Seth Rollins. Those guys, the very tippy top main eventers… they are not going to be asking the tippy top main eventers to restructure their deals. If you are low on the card, you’re probably not making enough for them to bother… so there is a specific window it appears of people being asked to restructure is because there are people that signed pretty big money deals quite a while ago and they have been making that money for quite a while, and they are not where they were.”

He said that the stars, not like Rhea Ripley or Roman Reigns, were being asked to take a huge 50% pay cut, which is quite a significant amount.

“They’re wanting like 50%, restructuring these deals.”

Alvarez went on to say that if someone were like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, or Rhea Ripley, they would not be asked to take a pay cut; they would be making six figures and quite high in that range. Others would be valued for what they contributed and paid accordingly.

“If you’re Roman Reigns, you’re Seth Rollins, you’re Becky Lynch, you’re Rhea Ripley, you’ll get a six-figure deal. Maybe a fair amount into the six figures. If you’re someone into the midcards, you’ll get six figures, but I don’t think you’re going to get $750,000. Maybe you will, but they are going to pay you six figures, they are going to figure out the value of you working one day a week and two matches a month.”

Other stars, except the New Day, who were asked to take a pay cut, have not been revealed yet.
