Oba took to the mic and stated that there isn’t too much he can do about the Championship opportunities. He is a lone wolf, so there is no question of him going after the World Tag Team Titles (which seem to be occupied by The Street Profits and The Vision anyway). The Intercontinental Championship picture is packed with contenders. The US Title will not be defended in open challenges anymore (and Sami Zayn is still in the mix). The World Heavyweight Title is obviously occupied as well. So in response, the Ruler said that he is starting the Oba Femi open challenge.

It’s going to be interesting to see who answers him, or if anyone dares answer him in the first place. However, for all we know, it could be a way to fill the gap between Oba’s next big storyline and now.

It’s clear that WWE doesn’t have any concrete plan for him and is just biding time until the next major opportunity opens up. Hopefully, this will be a good challenge until that happens and we see some good matches.
