“PWInsider.com is told that former IWGP Champion EVIL has not been officially assigned to any WWE brand and is listed internally on the company’s “Misc.” roster, which is also where legends and injured talents reside internally. WWE has not officially acknowledged he has been signed by the company.”

The report notes that he has not yet been officially acknowledged as a WWE star despite the reports that he has already joined the company.

EVIL and Iyo Sky were engaged during her time in Japan

EVIL is a huge name in Japan and a former IWGP Champion, but he is also well-known in the United States, since he had a stint in the country with Ring of Honor.

Following his signing, he has joined an interesting list of names who have made the move from NJPW to WWE in recent years. And as noted, he could be seen as a free agent until it’s decided which brand he can head to.

Evil was engaged to WWE’s Iyo Sky during their time in Japan, and there is speculation that he has moved to the States to be closer to his significant other. Sky has become one of the best female wrestlers in the company during her time in WWE, but given the recent release of Kairi Sane, it’s unclear what her direction will now be.

Kairi Sane and Asuka were pushing forward with a storyline with Iyo, but her recent release has made it clear that this story has been scrapped. It will be interesting to see if EVIL and Sky work together on-screen or if the two stars will be kept on opposite brands until the former champion can establish himself as a solo star.
