49ers send new contract proposal to Trent Williams, pushing to resolve dispute before NFL Draft
“As we hear it, the 49ers made another push to try to get closure in this situation and sent over a revised contract to Williams within the last few days,” La Canfora wrote.
“League sources indicated there is a chance this gets resolved early this week, depending on how comfortable the player is with the latest proposal. And, should the sides not make headway over the coming days, there is potential for this to get sideways.”

He added, “The 49ers are willing to pay Williams basically $36M guaranteed over the next two years, with about $24M to be paid to him in 2026.”
While such a deal would still make him a top-10 paid offensive lineman, Williams may be seeking to climb even higher in the salary rankings.
“The closer we get to the start of the regular season, the more the 49ers could reasonably conclude that opposing teams will have less appetite to take on a massive salary and thus perhaps the threat of cutting him could result in Williams opting to take what’s on the table,” La Canfora noted.”
49ers draft plans: Field Yates outlines offensive tackle options in Rounds 1-4
“If the 49ers decide to address offensive tackle earlier, Yates believes Florida’s Austin Barber could be a strong second-round fit. San Francisco has already held a virtual meeting with Barber as part of its pre-draft evaluation process.

“Just a physical, nasty run blocker,” Yates commented. “A really good athlete as well. He’s a big boy. He’s 6-foot-7 … definitely has some great size.”
49ers draft outlook: Field Yates highlights pass-rusher options in Round 1
“[Keldrick] Faulk is an intriguing prospect whose tape was better in 2024 than 2025 (7.0 sacks compared with 2.0, respectively),” Yates wrote in his mock draft. “But his skill set is too good to ignore: He’s 6-6, 276 pounds with positional versatility and stout run defense. A defensive line coach will see the potential to develop Faulk into a much more consistent rusher, as he won’t turn 21 until September.”
Yates admits he is also high on former Oklahoma defensive end R Mason Thomas, whom he ranked No. 24 on his big board.
“Just a maximum, full-tilt player,” Yates said, though he noted Thomas did not test as strongly as some hoped at the NFL Scouting Combine.
“He plays faster than he tests, and he’s tenacious,” Yates added.”

Maoicco: 49ers’ 2026 NFL Draft outlook: Assessing current state of team’s defensive line
“The defensive line figures to be a position group the 49ers will look to address early in the draft, possibly even with their first-round selection (No. 27).”
49ers hosting Tennessee WR Chris Brazzell II for key pre-draft visit
“He delivered his most productive campaign in 2025, recording 62 catches for 1,017 yards and nine touchdowns. Brazzell earned first-team All-SEC honors and was named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press.
Brazzell recorded a 4.37-second 40-time and 1.52-second 10-yard split at the NFL Scouting Combine. He is expected to be a Day 2 selection.”
