“We are sad to report the family of Dave Dwinell has announced that he passed away on March 19th. Dave was a longtime referee for pro wrestling in the Northeast US.”

The post further noted that the WWE veteran’s book “Ringman” was a significant literary work in the business.

“Dave’s autobiography ‘Ringman’sis a ‘must read’ for anyone interested in the history of pro wrestling. I’d like to believe that Dave is reunited in heaven with his family and friends like Freddie Blassie and the Iron Sheik. He will be missed by all of us at the International Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, where Dave often was a volunteer tour guide. Our prayers go out to Dave’s family during this difficult time. May Dave Dwinell rest peacefully.”

Dwinell was a familiar and well-loved face in the Northeast scene for decades, putting in more than 30 years across promotions like WWE, the NWA, and several independent companies.

Outside of wrestling, he spent 23 years working in tax administration and eventually ran one of the largest tax offices in New York State. After stepping away from the ring in 2015, he stayed involved in his community, serving as Treasurer for the Greene County Democratic Committee, and also made time for his love of music.

Back in December 2025, Dwinell shared that he had entered hospice care as his health declined.

Apart from WWE veteran David Dwinell, wrestling legend Miss Janeth has reportedly passed away as well

In a social media post, wrestling historian Roy Lucier claimed that Miss Janeth, aka Janet Fragoso Alonso, has passed away at the age of 52.

The untimely de*th of Miss Janeth is not confirmed yet, but Lucier has apparently heard from multiple sources that she has passed away. He also noted that she had been in poor health for the last three years.

Whether the reports are correct is yet to be officially announced.
