Now, veteran pro-wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, speaking on his latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, has reported that McAfee is playing his heel character on his ESPN show and stated that even ESPN is on board and is counting on it to drive fans to buy their app for WrestleMania.

“As far as sincerity and credibility on his show… it’s not there at all. He’s doing the character. It’s not a bad thing because ESPN is on board with all this obviously. This is the big one. They’re counting on people buying that app to get WrestleMania,” he said. (H/T: WONF4W)

If what the report claims is true, this rivalry is indeed an important one for the company strategically. Hence, it seems that WWE has been collaborating with McAfee and ESPN to make it a big success.

CM Punk sent Pat McAfee a warning on WWE RAW

The penultimate edition of RAW before WrestleMania 42 kicked off with The Best in the World cutting his signature Pipebomb promo, majorly targeting his Mania challenger, Roman Reigns.

Punk also took shots at The Rock and even mentioned Vince McMahon before taking brutal jabs at the NFL punter, who turned heel on Rhodes.

The Second City Saint went berserk on the color commentator and called him “Pat MAGA-fee” before addressing his actions on the blue brand. He then told him to call his agent, seemingly referring to TKO’s Ari Emanuel, to lower ticket prices and warned him that his receipt is coming.

That being said, it will be interesting to see what’s next in the Orton-Rhodes rivalry with McAfee in the mix now, with only a few days left for WrestleMania 42.
