Chance Taylor is far from the typical golf content creator. He even admits that he used to be the one making fun of people posting golf content online. That all changed when his first TikTok garnered him a million views and 10,000 followers. Now a married man and a father, Chance has turned his unique brand into its own business.

I had a chance to meet up with Chance at a Callaway Golf shoot the week of The Players this year and offer him a little challenge. Can he hit all 14 clubs in his bag to a 140-yard par 3? Along the way, I stopped to ask Chance a few questions about his start in golf content as well as how he tackles equipment in his bag.

“It was by accident,” he said of his beginning. “I used to actually make fun of people posting content because I didn’t understand it at all. I was bored one night, and I said, ‘I’m gonna post me a TikTok.’ Woke up the next morning with like three-quarter-of-a-million views, and by the end of the week I had like 10,000 followers.”

Jake chats with Chance about how his clubs ended up in his bag. Turns out, the answers are pretty simple. GOLF

After a buddy told him that he can make money doing it, the one-time pro golfer became a full-time content creator. He’s now a married man and a father, and he enjoys being able to travel with his family and being a “dad first and content creator second.” He’s also now a Callaway Golf ambassador with just about 60,000 followers on Instagram, playing golf in his signature boots, camo cut-off shorts and typically a cut-off T-shirt as well. Far from your typical golf creator, but one of the best follows.

What’s in the bag for golf’s most simple creator?

When we got to talking about his bag, it was mainly about simplicity. Chance is one hell of a golfer, so there isn’t much that he’s uncomfortable with, but the one thing we talked about a few times was being able to hit the ball high. This is something that connects with my game as well and something I talked about during our Fully Fit trip content. Using equipment to start the ball with a nice high flight and then using skill to bring the flight down is way easier for me (and Chance) than having to work the ball up when needed.

Driver and mini driver combination

For a one-two punch at the top of the bag, Chance plays Callaway’s Quantum Triple Diamond driver and the Elyte Mini Night edition — the former has about a 320-yard carry while the latter drops at 285 yards. It’s rare to see Chance do anything off the tee but go for a full send. The mini also lets him create some shots.

In my competition, he barely missed the 140-yard green with the driver, but put the mini to about 3 feet.

Talking about the Callaway Apex UT: “I’ve never been able to launch a driving iron up in the air like I want to. I was at the (Callaway) super shoot and was hitting Dalton’s [Joyce[ and just launchin’ that thing to the moon, so I chatted with ol’ Johnny Thompson and got one built up.” Never change, Chance. Never change.

He also plays a combo set of irons, with a 4-iron and 5-iron in the Callaway Apex CB, and 7-iron through his trusty 11-iron in the Callaway Apex MB.

“I don’t know, I seen some tour guys startin’ to do it. I had never tried it before. I was playing blades 4-iron through pitching wedge and played around with it. It’s a little easier to hit these up in the air.” I did suggest to him that he may want to play a full set of Callaway TCB irons, but we’ll get an update from Chance down the road and see what tinkering I’ve unlocked.

For the record, from the successful shot of the mini driver all the way down to the 11-iron, Chance missed only with the 7-iron. “Shoot yeah,” as Chance would say.

He then finishes off the bottom of the bag with some Callaway OPUS SP wedges, which have been given the full Anthony Taranto treatment.

Full send with the putter

This was not my idea, but I’m sure glad we did it. Chance REALLY wanted to try to hit this green with his putter. An Odyssey Ai-One #7 to be exact. Which he pointed out, he wasn’t rolling super well at the time and was going to be getting a new putter anyhow, so going full send off a tee wasn’t exactly a worry. Chance went full Tin Cup on this one, and after seven shots, stuck the putter to about 15 feet on the green before a final shot with the putter to see just how much side spin he could put on the ball. Answer, according to the Bushnell Launch Pro? 5300 rpms.
