However, the veteran believes he didn’t get to wrestle to his potential in the promotion. In a blind Q&A on Instagram, his wife, Priya Patel, asked him about his biggest regret in his career.

Mahal said limiting his wrestling style and character hurt him during his run. He said he regretted not trying anything new while in WWE.

“I boxed myself in too much. My wrestling style, in my character, I didn’t like once in a while pull out something new. My goal was always to build a comeback for the babyface, more excitement for the babyface. And in doing so, I kind of hurt myself in a way,” he said.

The former 3MB member also revealed that it was Vince McMahon who wanted him to wrestle in a specific way.

“That was actually what Vince (McMahon) wanted me to wrestle like, just work holds. I should’ve evolved that into something else,” he added.

Jinder Mahal added that now that he is away from WWE and competing on the independents, he is getting to showcase a different side of himself and try different things.

Jinder Mahal almost quit wrestling before WWE return

Jinder Mahal’s first stint with WWE ended in 2014 after he was released by the company. He was mainly featured as a lower midcarder and became a part of the 3MB stable alongside Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre.

It was during this time that he considered whether he should continue wrestling or step away. In an interview with Click and Tell, Mahal said he was at a crossroads before WWE called him to return in 2016.

It proved to be the right decision, as he had a much better run during his second stint with the promotion.
