Surgeon Pier Paolo Marini, who performed arthroscopy surgery on Paulo Dybala’s meniscus today, says the Argentine star be forced to the sidelines for at least 45 days.
Dybala underwent surgery on Friday after an injury setback.

The Argentine continued to experience knee discomfort on Thursday and, alongside the club, decided to undergo surgery.

“It was decided after a consultation yesterday,” Mariani, the doctor who performed the operation, told Sky Sport Italia.
“The initial diagnosis was a meniscal injury, although there were no clear signs on the MRI. Yesterday, together with Dr Petrucci, we decided to perform a diagnostic and surgical arthroscopy.
“We found a tear in the lateral meniscus. From an orthopaedic standpoint, the recovery time is about 45 days,” the doctor continued.
“After that, I hope the return to the pitch will be quick, but it will be decided by the Roma medical staff, the trainers and the coach.”

Dybala has scored three goals and provided four assists in 22 appearances across all competitions this season.
The Argentine striker’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires this coming June. Dybala made his last competitive appearance for Roma on January 25.
This latest injury casts even more doubts about his future at the Stadio Olimpico. According to Italian sources, Boca Juniors directors have already opened talks with the former Juventus star, who is available for a free transfer in June.

Roma currently sit fourth in the Serie A table with 51 points, three above fifth-placed Como.
The Giallorossi have also qualified for the Europa League Round of 16, where they’ll meet their Serie A opponents, Bologna.
