The 17-time world champion has not made an appearance in WWE since retiring in December at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII. However, if the report is anything to go by, fans could see him induct one of his most prominent rivals into the Hall of Fame this year.

Cena and Styles have battled each other multiple times in the 2010s. Their final match was at Crown Jewel in Australia last year, where Cena picked up the win after an incredible display from the two veterans.

The former WWE Champion put his career on the line against Gunther at the Royal Rumble, and ended up passing out to the sleeper hold as The Ring General emerged victorious. After the match, however, AJ Styles didn’t leave his gloves in the ring.

Fans had been speculating about the legend potentially coming back for another run. However, Styles confirmed that he didn’t leave his gloves in the ring at the Royal Rumble so he could perform the gesture in Georgia, his home state.

On RAW, AJ Styles left his gloves and vest in the middle of the ring as he thanked the fans. In the process, he seemingly confirmed the end of his in-ring career, while also seemingly ending speculation about a move to TNA or AEW.
