Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is an avid golfer and golf fan. He has attended The Players Championship, the Masters and played in the America Century Championship pro-am tournament.
He’s also loyal to Clemson, his alma mater, and when another former Tiger, Jacob Bridgeman, won the Genesis Invitational on Feb. 22 at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., Lawrence took to social media to congratulate Bridgeman.

“Congratulations on a big win at the Genesis,” Lawrence said in a video that was posted on the PGA Tour’s X site. “I’ve been watching all day today, as much as I could. I’ve been following you … it’s been a lot of fun watching you all weekend. You’re playing awesome. It’s been really fun to watch. We need to go out there and play some golf soon. It won’t be as much fun to watch me play as it is to watch you. Keep killing it.”
Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney also sent a congratulatory video to Bridgeman. Both videos were sent by Lawrence and Swinney in time for a Tour communications official to play them for Bridgeman at his news conference following the one-shot victory over Rory McIlroy and Kurt Kitiyama.

Bridgeman and Lawrence are both 26 years old and have birthdays exactly two months apart. They were both ACC Players of the Year in their sports at Clemson (Bridgeman in 2022, Lawrence in 2020) and both hold or share records for victories for the Tigers. Bridgeman is tied with the most career golf tournament victories at Clemson with five and Lawrence posted the most victories (34) and the best winning percentage (.944) for a starting quarterback.

Bridgeman said that while he and Lawrence were at Clemson at the same time, it was clear who the bigger man on campus was.
“Trevor and I were the same age at Clemson, but he was so famous before he even got to school that he couldn’t really hang out with anybody,” Bridgeman said. “I met him a few times, talked to him. He’s a super nice guy. I’ve been a fan of his kind of his whole NFL career. I’m so glad that he had an amazing season this past year and almost won anMVP. So super nice guy. I am glad he was watching and that’s super special that he sent that.”
