While talking to Stephanie McMahon on her What’s Your Story? podcast, Keys opened up about his past. The newest star in the Stamford-based company revealed that his elder brother was involved in dealing narcotics and lost his life while saving him.

“My brother was a big drug dealer. He lost his life saving me. It was one of those things – I don’t know if I should say it was meant to happen – but if you play a certain game, you win certain prizes,” he said.

It’s heartbreaking to know that Royce Keys had to go through such a traumatising experience.

Royce Keys lost Trios Championship in AEW before joining WWE

Before he joined WWE, Royce Keys worked for All Elite Wrestling. He was a part of the Samoa Joe led group known as The Opps. Along with Joe and Katsuyori Shibata, Keys held the AEW World Trios Championships. However, since he wasn’t re-signing with the company he had to drop the championships.

On Keys’ last appearance on AEW programming, The Opps lost the AEW World Trios Championships to Hangman Adam Page, Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey at AEW Collision. This win came after Hangman vowed to take everything away from Samoa Joe as revenge after losing the AEW World Championship.

Fans are excited to see what is next for Keys in the Stamford-based promotion.
