The Seattle Seahawks have lost a couple of offensive coaches to the Las Vegas Raiders, but the man who oversaw the big turnaround on the offensive line is staying put.
Seahawks reporter Curtis Crabtree wrote on Sunday that John Benton, hired last season to replace Scott Huff as OL coach, is going to remain on Seattle’s staff entering next year.
Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak left the Seahawks to coach the Las Vegas Raiders, taking quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko with him as an OC.

Given most teams have filled out their coaching staffs already, this isn’t super surprising news. Had Kubiak eyed Benton to be his offensive line coach, the Seahawks could’ve blocked an interview request since it would’ve been a lateral move.
Perhaps the hint regarding Benton’s stance on remaining in Seattle was made during Super Bowl week media availability. He’s a Seahawk, dammit!
The Seahawks ranked 12th and 8th respectively in ESPN’s pass and run block win rate metrics, markedly better than their 21st and 28th rankings in 2024. Sam Darnold’s sack rate was below six percent, the best for any Seahawks quarterback since Matt Hasselbeck in 2007, while the rushing attack revved up late in the year behind Kenneth Walker III and (prior to his injury) Zach Charbonnet.

Seattle likely isn’t a Super Bowl champion without the major improvement on the offensive line, and Benton is one of the driving factors for the uptick in performance.
