Slowly but surely, we are getting all of the information about the San Francisco 49ers’ matchup with the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia. Earlier this week, a report surfaced that the game would take place in Week 1.
The same reporter, John Ourand of Puck, is now reporting that the 49ers-Rams game will be played on Wednesday, September 9, or Thursday, September 10.

The NFL has generally reserved Thursday for the Super Bowl champions to play their season opener. Could the NFL change its schedule and move Seattle’s game to Wednesday, with the Australia game on Thursday?
Either way, both teams would get a couple of days of travel back to help reset their body clocks and prepare for Week 2, while a Week 1 game would allow them to travel to Melbourne as early as they see fit to get used to practicing and adjusting to that time zone.
