Carlota Ciganda got married over the Christmas break and took off 42 days before getting back to work. In her first round back, the fiery Spaniard made an ace on the eighth hole at Riyadh Golf Club.
Ciganda carded a 5-under 67 and trails by three early at the LET season-opening PIF Saudi Ladies International.
Earlier in the week, Ciganda met with the press alongside Solheim Cup teammate Charley Hull. When asked about getting back to work after tying the knot with longtime beau James Longman, a caddie on the LPGA, Ciganda revealed the details of her long break.

“I think the Spanish know how to party a lot more than the English,” said Ciganda, smiling. “We had a lot of fun, and I didn’t touch a club for 42 days, that was the longest time.”
A stunned Hull couldn’t help but ask a follow-up question: “Did you not miss playing golf for 42 days?”
“No, not at all,” Ciganda replied.
“I took two days off,” Hull continued, “and I was depressed those two days.”
As for the ace, Ciganda hit a 9-iron from 157 yards but didn’t know the ball had dropped in the hole until she got word from the cameraman. She won a car for her efforts.

The 35-year-old Spaniard, an eigh-time winner on the LET, won her first LPGA tournament in nearly a decade last summer at the Meijer LPGA Classic.
