Justin Thomas recalls WM Phoenix Open 16th hole nightmare

Justin Thomas, having undergone back surgery late last year, is not in the field, but he’s fit enough to share his experience of the Party Hole on social media.

The two-time major winner posted on X: “I once hit the green on 16 at the WM Phoenix Open on a Saturday and 4 putted for a double… after making an 8 on the previous hole, I can confirm you can’t want to get off that hole fast enough and the boos (rightfully so) are on another level.”

It’s a painfully honest assessment from the American, who would undoubtedly love to be having another few attempts at the famed hole right now.

How did Justin Thomas perform on the PGA Tour in 2025?

As always, there has been plenty of chaos at the WM Phoenix Open, where a rowdy atmosphere is par for the course.

And fortunately for Thomas, it hasn’t all been bad at the iconic tournament, where he has a fine recent history.

He finished T6 last year, helped by a hole-out eagle from 103 yards on the par-4 18th to end his final round.

It represented one of eight top-10 finishes for Thomas in his 2025 season, in which he also claimed one win and three runner-up spots.
