Despite winning 14 regular season games as well as all three of their playoff contests so far, and not having lost in almost two months, the New England Patriots are entering Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks as comparatively big underdogs.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the spread is 4.5 points in the NFC champion’s favor. This means that the Patriots are tied with the 2021 Bengals and 2017 Eagles as the biggest Super Bowl underdog over the last decade.

Their status is not just the reflected in the odds, but also in how fans around the country view them. While the results of the latest SB Nation Reacts survey show that 81% of Patriots fans are confident in their team, they are the only fanbase in the NFL to do so: polling every other fanbase in the league, every one of them picked the Seahawks as winners.

The result is a lopsided national split. Overall, 82% of fans think Seattle will win on Sunday.

Going back to Patriots fans, they are confident in their team despite its underdog status. Nonetheless, they do believe the game to be fairly close: 62% think the contest will end as a one-score affair decided by between four and eight points. For comparison, only 21% think that the winner will have an advantage of more than a touchdown plus two-point conversion.

Whether those predictions will turn out accurate remains to be seen. Super Bowl LX will be kicked off at 6:30 p.m. ET at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
