Gunther defeated John Cena in his retirement match last month at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Cena tapped out with a smile on his face to end his illustrious career. AJ Styles got the better of Shinsuke Nakamura last night at WWE SNME in a rematch of their bout at WrestleMania 34.

WWE Hall of Famer compares AJ Styles to Shawn Michaels

Wrestling icon The Undertaker recently claimed that AJ Styles was the Shawn Michaels of his era.

Styles battled The Deadman in his final match at WrestleMania 36. The Undertaker defeated the veteran in a Boneyard Match to end his career. Speaking on the Six Feet Under podcast, The Phenom praised Styles and compared him to The Heartbreak Kid. The Undertaker noted that he doesn’t offer compliments too often and added that a match between Styles and Michaels would have been incredible.

“You were the Shawn Michaels of this era. You were so far ahead of your time. I don’t throw compliments like that out lightly because I think the world of Shawn for what he did. And my god, what a dream match that would have been,” he said.

AJ Styles and Dragon Lee were recently World Tag Team Champions, but the duo dropped the titles to The Usos last month on WWE RAW. It will be interesting to see if Styles can defeat Gunther at Royal Rumble next weekend, or if it will be the final match of his career.
