Still, fans continue to speculate. After losing the WWE Undisputed Championship to Drew McIntyre a couple of weeks ago, fans are once again dreaming of Cody Rhodes possibly changing his on-screen persona.

However, the latest report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), plays down those expectations. Dave Meltzer noted that regarding the rumors of Rhodes turning heel, they were told it’s not happening at the moment.

He mentioned that the turn won’t happen until WWE deems it has to be done which isn’t anytime soon. Meltzer also noted that his merchandise numbers are doing good and WWE doesn’t want to tinker with it.

In the past, The Rock has talked about Rhodes having immense potential as a heel, but Meltzer said that the Great One hasn’t weighed in at all on current WWE creative.

Cody Rhodes could be set for major match at WrestleMania

Drew McIntyre winning the WWE Undisputed Championship has shaken the main event scene heading into the Road to WrestleMania.

According to reports, Cody Rhodes felt it would be a fresh thing for him to go into WrestleMania chasing the Title rather than defending it for the second year running.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter previously noted that the current plan from WWE for WrestleMania is to book either Rhodes vs. McIntyre for the Championship in a rematch or go with a three-way featuring those two and Jacob Fatu.
