Redmond appeared for an exclusive interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet. She recalled a moment about a year and a half ago when she had a backstage interview with Sami scheduled and couldn’t find him before the segment. She started to panic, and Zayn finally showed up just seconds before they went on the air. Jackie was relieved that Sami was professional, and the segment turned out great.

“I love this person dearly, like one of my favorite people backstage. And this is probably a year and a half ago. This is a while ago. But we are getting ready for a live shot backstage where I’m interviewing this person. And we’re like 20 seconds away. Don’t even have eyes on him. Don’t know where he is. I haven’t seen him. We chatted earlier in the day, like, yeah, we have backstage, and that will be great, whatever. But we’re getting close.” She continued, “And so I’m starting to panic a little bit. And literally, like, we’re in the 10 count. And finally, Sami Zayn shows up, and we’re ready to go. And I was like, ‘Oh my God, Sami! I’m so nervous!’ I was like, where is this man? But he was fine, and he nailed it, and we were great. And it was a wonderful segment.”

Sami Zayn was in action on SmackDown

This week on the blue brand, Sami Zayn faced Ilja Dragunov in a high stakes singles match. The winner would advance to a number one contenders Fatal Four way match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The winner of the Fatal Four way will challenge Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Zayn and Dragunov put on a stellar matchup, but Sami picked up the win with a Helluva Kick.

However, Sami didn’t get a chance to celebrate as Trick Williams showed up and attacked him, sending a clear message ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
