#3. To book fresh opponents for Drew McIntyre as Champion

One of the key reasons why Rhodes has been kicked out of the Undisputed Title picture is that it will allow WWE to book fresh challengers for the Scottish Warrior. If The American Nightmare gets a rematch, then it may feel like McIntyre’s title reign is boring, and fans may likely lose interest very soon.

Considering this concern, WWE opted to keep Cody out of the championship picture immediately after he suffered a loss last week.

#2. To put a rest on Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes feud

By not allowing a rematch to the former Undisputed Champion, WWE eventually put an end to the McIntyre and Rhodes feud. This appears to be a strategic move by the Stamford-based promotion as the company can revisit this unfinished business later this year.

Though The American Nightmare has declared his entrance for the Men’s Rumble match, he is still unlikely to score the victory.

#1. WWE wants to book Cody Rhodes in non-title feuds

Jacob Fatu calls out Cody Rhodes and Cody answers #SmackDown

Over the past few months, Cody Rhodes has been consistently booked in Championship feuds. Either he remains the titleholder or continues to chase the World title. He initially suffered the loss against John Cena at last year’s WrestleMania but later reclaimed the title at SummerSlam 2025.

With the Triple H creative team booking Rhodes continuously in the title feud, it’s time to book the Prodigal son in some non-title rivalries. Already, Cody issued a warning to Jacob Fatu on the blue brand for his actions on last week’s SmackDown.

So, the company may officially kick off a feud between these two stars. Also, if Rhodes failed to emerge at the top in the Men’s Rumble match, then a non-Championship feud could be waiting for him.

To book Cody without the World title picture appears to be another reason why he got kicked out of the Undisputed WWE Title picture.
