She’s already through two rounds of the 2025 Lotte Championship and Jessica Porvasnik, a 30-year-old rookie on the LPGA, is halfway to her first victory. If she pulls it off, it’ll be 26-for-26 in 2025, meaning there have been 25 different winners of the 25 LPGA events on tour this season.

Porvasnik has posted rounds of 67 and 65 at Hoakalei Country Club in Oahu, Hawaii, and walked off the course after her second round at 12 under and holding a three-shot lead on the field.

The LPGA’s lone stop in Hawaii this season is a Wednesday-to-Saturday format and features a strong field, including Nelly Korda, Charley Hull, Brook Henderson, Nasa Hataoka and Amy Yang.

Setting the pace is Porvasnik, a former Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Freshman of the Year, both in 2014, at Ohio State. Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye, as Porvasnik still has a Brutus head cover on her driver.

Her Friday 65 featured seven birdies and zero bogeys. In fact, over two days, she has just one bogey. There’s still plenty of golf to be played so she knows the drill.

“Just to stay patient. You can’t look too far ahead. I kind of learned that through golf in my amateur and professional career,” she said. “One shot at a time and hopefully everything works out.”

Her trip to the islands this week also allowed for some sightseeing.

“We went to Pearl Harbor. That was really cool. Great experience,” she said. “Went up to North Shore. It’s been really nice out here. You can relax while you’re here and play golf at the same time.”
