In an exciting game at Arena Pantanal, Cuiabá overcame Athletic 2 x 1, this Sunday (28).
The game started with the Minas Gerais team scoring through a header by David Braga, but the hosts quickly responded with Bruno Alves.
In the second half, Juan Christian scored the decisive goal, securing the victory for Cuiabá. Despite Athletic’s greater ball possession, Dourado’s efficiency made the difference.
The victory keeps Cuiabá in the fight for the G-4 of Serie B, as it has 45 points and occupies the sixth position. Meanwhile, Athletic remains with 32 points and in 15th place.
Cuiabá will travel to face Paysandu, who is fighting against relegation, in their next match. Meanwhile, Athletic Club MG will host Amazonas, another team struggling to avoid the drop, in a crucial confrontation.
