The Premier League champions see Rodrygo as a key target to bolster their attacking options as they prepare for some departures at the top end of the pitch.

A move for Rodrygo is now currently being mooted at the Etihad, with the Brazilian facing a crossroads regarding his Real Madrid career.

Recent developments suggest Rodrygo may be open to leaving Santiago Bernabeu as he seeks more playing time, something he is not getting consistently at Madrid given the fierce competition for places in attack.

Madrid are prepared to let Rodrygo leave and have set an asking price of around €100 million to part ways with the 24-year-old, who has three years left on his current deal.

He has also been linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool this summer.

Rodrygo is capable of playing on both wings but prefers to be deployed on the left. His arrival would be a statement signing from City.

City manager Pep Guardiola has never gone consecutive years without a domestic title and is keen on keeping it that way.

After drawing the curtain on their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 victory over Palermo on Saturday, City are next in action on Saturday at the Molineux Stadium as they kick off their quest for Premier League glory against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
