John Cena shocked the world by turning heel and becoming a 17-time World Champion in WWE. He plans to retire with the title, but could he also retire the World Heavyweight Championship?
After dethroning Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, John Cena defeated Randy Orton in his first title defense and also defeated R-Truth at Saturday Night’s Main Event in a non-title match. Now he plans to retire with the Undisputed WWE Championship so that the company will be forced to manufacture a new piece of gold to replace the prestigious title. However, he might also plan to retire the World Heavyweight Championship in his quest to ruin wrestling altogether.
On the latest edition of Monday Night RAW, Gunther dethroned Jey Uso to become the World Heavyweight Champion again, and there is a buzz that WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg will soon return to have his retirement match against The Ring General. If that happens and the title is on the line, Cena could help Da Man become the new champion.
If this master plan works out, the veterans could retire with both World Titles, thus leaving the company without a real World Championship. Wrestling will indeed be ruined for everyone if this scenario materializes.
However, it should be noted that while the above angle could play out, for now, it is just speculation, and nothing has been confirmed by WWE.
Who else should John Cena face before he retires from WWE?
The Greatest of All Time has had a decent run as the Undisputed WWE Champion so far. He battled his iconic rival Randy Orton at Backlash in The Viper’s hometown of St. Louis and defeated him. He also beat R-Truth in a non-title match at SNME 39, and will square off against CM Punk at Night of Champions later this month. This will leave fans with the last six months of his Farewell Tour.
If fans are lucky enough, John Cena could battle his former rivals like AJ Styles, The Miz, Roman Reigns, and maybe even Brock Lesnar before he finally hangs up his boots for good. A few dream matches could be booked against a veteran like Gunther in a first-time-ever scenario or youngsters like Bron Breakker or Jacob Fatu.
It will also be interesting to see if he loses the Undisputed WWE Championship before retiring, and who could dethrone him if that is in store. All these questions will be answered in the coming months.
