One right-back has said his goodbyes at Anfield.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaving the club after almost two decades at the club. It’s a disappointing blow for Liverpool. There’s no denying it that Alexander-Arnold’s decision has hit all of us like a sucker punch.

But as one leaves, another one is about to join. Jeremie Frimpong looks set to be on his way to the club and his arrival is exciting.
Frimpong has been one of the best young wing-backs in Europe for the last two seasons. Bringing him in is a major coup for the Reds. Especially as Anfield Watch understands Liverpool will be signing him for only £30m.
At that price, Frimpong is an absolute bargain. In the age of modern transfers when prices are extremely inflated, he represents good value for money on the market.
Interestingly, he’s also not the only right-back who is expected to link-up with Arne Slot’s first team this summer. There’s another one who has gone under the radar who is expected to join up with the first team again after a successful loan spell.

Luca Stephenson is a name not many Liverpool fans will have heard of. Yet, he was involved in Liverpool’s first team during pre-season last summer.
Stephenson made four appearances under Slot, all of them as a right-back, playing an entire half against Arsenal.
The talented youngster then went on loan to Dundee United where he has enjoyed a terrific season. Stephenson helped Dundee reach a European spot and won the club’s Young Player of the Year Award.
In the process, he became a key player, often playing as a wing-back and contributing with three goals and two assists in 31 league appearances.
But he also showcased his versatility and demonstrated he could play not just as a right-back but in many other positions as well.
In total, Stephenson was deployed as a holding midfielder, left-back, central midfielder and attacking midfielder as well.
After a spectacular season, he is now expected to return to Liverpool. Anfield Watch understands he will be given a chance again to link-up with Arne Slot’s first team in pre-season.
He will now face tough competition for the right-back spot with Conor Bradley and Frimpong ahead of him in the pecking order but Stephenson will be given a chance to showcase his quality to Slot.
What happens after pre-season remains to be seen. What is clear is that Stephenson will be viewed as a first team player. He could leave on loan again and even a permanent departure is on the cards.
If that is the case, Liverpool will be hoping to make a profit on their investment after they signed Stephenson as a teenager from Sunderland.
