The Chicago Blackhawks announced they have recalled 2024 second overall pick Artyom Levshunov from their AHL affiliate Rockford Ice Hogs.

Levshunov has five goals, 17 assists and 59 penalty minutes in 50 AHL games this season.

The 19-year-old has taken a big step forward in the last month, since February he has two goals and eight assists in 13 games.

He was also suspended for one game after crosschecking Chicago Wolves defenseman Domenick Fensore in a Feb. 23 game.

With the Blackhawks seemingly set to finish as a bottom three team in the NHL and the Ice Hogs clinging to the final Central Division AHL playoff spot now is a good time for Levshunov to make his NHL debut with little pressure and return to the AHL for the playoffs.

Levshunov’s first chance to make his NHL comes Monday Mar. 10 against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Zhlobin, BLR., native was a NCAA West Second All-American Team member after recording nine goals and 35 points in 38 games with the Michigan State Spartans last season.
