His first marriage was to Elizabeth Diane Boyles, spanning 1978 to 1980. He later married Courtney Shattuck, and they had four children together, including professional wrestler Tessa Blanchard, before eventually parting ways.
Tully’s Instagram post also came with a caption reflecting on the occasion.
“Amazing day yesterday ❤️” he wrote.
Tully started his career in Southwest Championship Wrestling before moving to Jim Crockett Promotions. It was there he found fame as part of the Four Horsemen alongside Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Ole Anderson.
The Horsemen became household names as they feuded with top babyfaces such as Dusty Rhodes, The Road Warriors, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, and many others.
Tully Blanchard had a brief run in WWE
In 1988, Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson left Jim Crockett Promotions over a pay dispute. The duo then debuted in WWE and were paired with Bobby “The Brian” Heenan.
Known as the Brain Busters, they won the Tag Team championship after beating Demolition at Saturday Night’s Main Event in July 1989. This win brought an end to Demolition’s record 478-day title reign.
Tully left the Stamford-based promotion shortly after dropping the championship back to Demolition. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Four Horsemen in 2012. The legend also had a stint with AEW as he managed FTR.
He also managed Shawn Spears and The Pinnacle during this run. The former NWA tag team champion eventually left AEW in the summer of 2022.
