Goldberg finally returned to WWE on Monday Night RAW to kick off the build to his final match. The Hall of Famer appeared to confront Gunther just as The Ring General was about to address the WWE Universe after winning back the World Heavyweight Championship last week.

The two had a heated exchange last year at Bad Blood. Gunther made remarks against Da Man, which did not sit well with the WCW legend. Since then, rumors have circulated about Goldberg returning to the Stamford-based promotion for a feud with The Ring General.

The 58-year-old legend wasted no time challenging Gunther for a World Heavyweight Title match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, Georgia, next month. This may or may not be Da Man’s last match in WWE, and he can stick around for a few other matches if he wins the gold.

On that note, we list three mistakes WWE shouldn’t make with the Hall of Famer’s last run.

#3. Goldberg shouldn’t have a squash match

The first mistake WWE shouldn’t make with Da Man’s final run is getting him buried in a squash match against Gunther. There is no doubt that the Imperium Leader is one of the best in-ring performers in the promotion today. He is the longest-reigning former Intercontinental Champion and has held the title for a significant part of his career.

However, WWE should not let Gunther completely decimate Goldberg in a one-sided match. That would be embarrassing for the legend, who would possibly be signing off from wrestling after a brutal defeat to a superstar 21 years younger than he is.

The company should have a decent final match for the Hall of Famer, ensuring that both participants are equally skilled in the match. That would also not ruin his months-long training before his final match.

#2. Shouldn’t put title on him

The second mistake WWE shouldn’t make with Goldberg’s final run is booking him as the World Heavyweight Champion. It’s well-known that the WWE Universe isn’t a big fan of his in-ring performance. He struggles to compete in long matches, a trend that dates back to his days in WCW.

WWE received a lot of flak for putting the title on Da Man in 2020 when he won the Universal Championship from the late Bray Wyatt at Super ShowDown. Although he lost the title to Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 36, his championship run wasn’t well-received by the fans.

Similarly, fans criticized the company for booking the veteran against Kevin Owens in 2017 and allowing him to win the Universal Championship from KO. Therefore, for his good, WWE should not put the gold on his shoulders and let him conclude his career after competing in a few singles matches.

#1. Goldberg shouldn’t lose to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event

Goldberg also shouldn’t lose to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event next month. That would be a serious blow to Da Man’s overall legacy in wrestling. However, the match can end by disqualification due to some outside intervention.

The two of them can be booked for a final match at SummerSlam, where The Ring General can finally defeat Goldberg and put an end to his WWE career. Bringing back the Hall of Famer and then having him lose in his first match would not be a wise way to end things for the legend. He should at least be given a run for two months before signing off on a high note.
