Gunther put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against CM Punk in a Live Event last week and stood tall to retain his title. Heading into the RAW premiere on Netflix, the Ring General is in search of his next challenger.
Could this challenger be the former United States Champion Logan Paul, who has been drafted to RAW and will be part of the red brand going forward? There is a possibility that WWE Creative will start a feud between the two megastars, especially after what happened at the RAW on Netflix Kickoff Event a couple of weeks ago, where Logan Paul and Gunther took shots at one another.
Even though the YouTube star could go after the reigning champion and challenge him to a title match, it is unlikely he will dethrone him. Logan Paul could become a champion later in the year, however this is not expected to happen upon his debut on the red brand.
Instead, Gunther is expected to retain his title for the foreseeable future, with a megastar, like Seth Rollins and CM Punk, as a likely opponent at the Royal Rumble on February 1.
Could Gunther remain the World Heavyweight Champion through WrestleMania 41?
WWE Creative has yet to make final decisions on what matches WWE fans will see at WrestleMania 41. As the Road to WrestleMania will kick off on the RAW premiere on Netflix this Monday night, we could have a better idea of what the plan is for Gunther at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
According to a report from Cultaholic and WrestlePurists, the plan is for The Ring General to retain his title through WrestleMania 41 and put it on the line against Seth Rollins at The Showcase of the Immortals.
If this is the case, it is likely that CM Punk, who has made it clear that he will go after the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, will collide with Roman Reigns at ‘Mania. It is a likely scenario since Paul Heyman owes Punk a favor, which could be a future match against The OTC.
CM Punk and Seth Rollins will face each other on the RAW premiere on Netflix, and their rivalry is set to be extended through at least WrestleMania 41 on April 19-20.
