There are different circumstances for each legend, though John Cena, who has won a total of 27 titles in his career, is not going the same path. Cena made it clear on his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live that December 13 will be the final day of his in-ring career.

“It has been a crazy year, where I announced this like 15 months in advance like, ‘I’m going to retire.’ This has really never been done in WWE history. WWE superstars don’t necessarily retire. They always kind of hang on for one more match. I am absolutely 100% done. The 13th of December on Peacock is my last in-ring performance. I will never wrestle again,” Cena said.

John Cena’s final opponent to be determined on WWE SmackDown

The final of The Last Time Is Now Tournament is scheduled for Friday on SmackDown. Gunther is set to take on LA Knight to determine John Cena’s final opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Gunther got in the final after beating Je’Von Evans in the first round, Carmelo Hayes in the quarterfinals and Solo Sikoa in the semifinals. The Ring General is favored to win the match since he was rumored to be the original pick to be Cena’s final opponent several months ago.

Meanwhile, LA Knight earned his spot after defeating Zack Ryder in the first round. Knight then eliminated The Miz, who replaced an injured Sheamus, in the quarterfinals before outlasting Jey Uso in the semis. The Megastar has garnered some momentum, which means an upset is possible.
