It’s here! It’s time for “The People’s Open,” otherwise known as TPC Scottsdale’s WM Phoenix Open. One of the more entertaining (and/or chaotic) weeks on the PGA Tour’s schedule is back, once again as a perfect lead-up and appetizer to the Super Bowl. Scottie Scheffler will be teeing it up at the spot of his first career PGA Tour win in 2022, and Brooks Koepka will look to improve on his made cut and T-56 finish last week at Torrey Pines.
Along with those two multi-time major champs, this stacked field will feature Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun, Ben Griffin, Max Homa, Viktor Hovland, Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama. Chris Gotterup will be back as well, looking for his second win of the fledgling season. At the moment, Gotterup, Ryan Gerard, Justin Rose and Scheffler are atop the FedEx Cup Standings. They do have five majors between them, after all.

Koepka has won this event twice, but hasn’t played it since 2022, because, well, you know why. For a similar (LIV-esque) reason, Thomas Detry, last year’s champ, will not have a chance to defend his title. He had won by seven strokes in 2025 behind a remarkable run of 66-64-65-65.
This week’s winner will receive a $1.728 million cut of the $9.6 million purse and 500 FedEx Cup points.
