The bracket is set for what figures to be a raucous SEC Tournament in Nashville, as one of the toughest leagues in college basketball history will go five rounds to determine a tournament champion. No. 1 seed Auburn will be going for its second straight tournament title after spending much of the conference season at No. 1 in the AP poll and winning the league outright.
However, there are plenty of subplots radiating throughout the 16-team league that will be on display at Bridgestone Arena. No. 2 seed Florida, No. 3 seed Alabama and No. 4 seed Tennessee are each in the hunt for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers and Gators are currently projected as a No. 1 seed in Jerry Palm’s Bracketology, but an early exit combined with a deep run from the Vols or Crimson Tide could alter the equation.
Then, there is the matter of bubble teams. The SEC is on pace to match or exceed the Big East’s record of placing 11 teams in the NCAA Tournament, which was set in 2011 when the conference had 16 members. Entering conference tournament week, there are 14 SEC teams with legitimate at-large hopes.
But schools such as No. 13 seed Texas, No. 9 seed Arkansas and No. 14 seed Oklahoma will want to stick around for a few days in Nashville if they want to feel good about hearing their names called on Selection Sunday.
Below is the full schedule and tip times for the tournament which opens Wednesday and runs through Sunday afternoon.
