A total of five Beaver Valley golfers on both the boys and girls side teed off at the PIAA golf championships at Penn State University’s blue and white courses Oct. 20-21.

Three of those area golfers were making a return trip to the state championship, while one freshman got his first taste of the Penn State course in PIAA competition.

Here is how Beaver Valley golfers fared over the two-round championship.

Boys Class 2A

Jonah Schollaert, OLSH

Schollaert finsihed with an identical score on both days of competition, shooting even par to place in fourth overall in the field of 72 to cap off his high school career. The OLSH senior recorded three birdies on the first day and an additional three in the final round.

Trey Susa, Sewickley Academy

The Sewickley Academy freshman capped off his first high school golf season tied for 29th in the state in Class 2A. Susa bounced back from a pair of double bogey’s on day one to shoot a 75 (+3) to finish the championship with a gross score of 155.

Boys Class 3A

Nico Ward, West Allegheny

The West Allegheny sophomore surged up the leaderboard on the second day of competition. After carding a 77 in the first round, Ward shot an impressive 68 (-4) in the final round, posting a total gross score of 145, finishing tied for sixth place.

Girls Class 2A

Makenna Kamnikar, Quaker Valley

Kamnikar capped off her high school career finishing in 20th place with a total gross score of 169. The senior shot an 82 in the first round and an 87 in the final round.

Girls Class 3A

Liv DeGori, Moon Area

DeGori bounced back after a rough first round, finishing with a total gross score of 161, placing tied for 20th. After not carding a birdie on the opening day of the championship, the junior had a biridie on No. 13 in the second round, her best hole of the day.
