Could the New York Giants take a quarterback not named Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft?
Just a day before the draft begins, Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart now has lower odds to go to the Giants than Sanders does at BetMGM. Dart is +200 to be drafted by the Giants, while Sanders is +350 to go to New York.

As you know by now, the Giants need a long-term solution at quarterback. The team signed Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson in the offseason, but they’re both stopgap options as the Giants are in their post-Daniel Jones era.
New York holds the No. 3 pick in the first round of the draft on Thursday night but is widely expected to not take a quarterback with that selection. With Cam Ward to the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 a virtual certainty and Travis Hunter to the Browns at -2000, Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter seems the likely choice for the Giants. Carter is -800 to go No. 3. No other player has odds better than +650 to go third, and Sanders is +700.
Dart is +6000 to be picked third, lending further credence to the idea that the Giants will either trade back into the late first round to grab a quarterback or take one in the second round. Dart, a three-year starter at Ole Miss after transferring from USC, is seen as the third-best quarterback in the class behind both Ward and Sanders. He thrived in Lane Kiffin’s offense and completed 69% of his passes for 4,279 yards and 29 TDs with just six interceptions a season ago.
Sanders, meanwhile, could be the draft’s biggest variable. The final mock draft from Yahoo Sports’ Charles McDonald and Nate Tice had Sanders going unselected in the first 32 picks. The Steelers and Browns are now the betting favorites to take the Colorado QB at +250 each. The Browns have the 33rd pick and first selection of the second round on Friday while the Steelers have the 21st overall selection but no second-round pick.
Ashton Jeanty to the Jaguars?
Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty is a near-lock to be the first running back taken on Thursday night. It’s just a matter of how early Jeanty will be chosen.

It could be earlier than you think, too. Jeanty is now the favorite at -135 to be the No. 5 pick in the draft. Jeanty has been a common mock draft choice for the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 6, but now he might not even make it that far. McDonald and Tice had Jeanty to the Jaguars in their mock draft on Tuesday and that lined up with what our insider Charles Robinson has been hearing about Jacksonville.
Here’s what Robinson wrote in his Tuesday intel column:
I think it would be a surprise if the Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t take an offensive skill position player at fifth overall. I’ll just leave it at that.
If and when Jeanty is taken in the top six, he’ll be the highest running back pick since the Giants took Saquon Barkley with the No. 2 overall selection in 2018.
