Houston has quickly established itself as the kings of the Big 12 with back-to-back outright regular season titles in its two seasons since joining the conference from the AAC. But there is still one bit of league supremacy the Cougars have yet to claim. A year ago, they lost to Iowa State in the Big 12 Tournament Championship Game.

They will be out for redemption this year after tearing through the league with a 19-1 record. While the Big 12 provided little resistance to Houston during the regular season, there will be plenty of teams motivated to perform well this week.

No. 2 seed Texas Tech has never won the Big 12 Tournament, and the Red Raiders are plenty capable of changing that in 2025 after a great regular season highlighted by a short-handed road win over Houston. No. 4 seed BYU suddenly looks like a serious threat as well after closing the regular season with eight straight wins under first-year coach Kevin Young.

Then, there’s the group of No. 3 seed Arizona, No. 5 seed Iowa State and No. 6 seed Kansas. Each were ranked in the top-10 at one point or another this season (Kansas began the season at No. 1) but have endured some struggles. But there’s no doubting their talent, and the Big 12 Tournament will provide a great opportunity for them to gain momentum entering the NCAA Tournament.
