Welcome to the weekend, Blades Brown.

Brown, a 17-year-old who turned pro ahead of the 2025 PGA Tour season and made his debut as a professional a month ago at the American Express, made his first cut Friday at the 2025 Mexico Open at VidantaWorld.

Brown got three rounds under his belt in the Southern California desert. The unique format at the AmEx doesn’t have a cut till after 54 holes and a third-round 74 ended his week without a payday.

This time around, he’ll be cashing a check.

Brown shot 68-69 to finish at 5 under. He’s posted five birdies and four bogeys over 36 holes and is inside the top 40.

After his round, he spoke with the media.

What did Blades Brown say after making his first PGA Tour cut as a pro?

You’re playing on the weekend. What were your thoughts on today’s round?

I’m so relieved that I was able to make the weekend. I had about a nine footer for par on hole 17 and thankfully that dropped. I’m super thankful to be here. Playing golf on a golf course like this, it’s hard to beat.

Normally someone are you kind of a leaderboard watcher, were you looking at cut line and especially down the stretch on the back nine?

Yeah, I was trying to make many, many matches to myself saying OK, let’s try to shoot 2 under par on the last two holes. I was kind of watching the cut line just to kid of see what it was going to be and I knew that it was going to be anywhere around 3 or 4 and I was happy to get in with 5.

Since we’ve seen you at AmEx and turning pro, what have been some of the big takeaways?

I mean, I’m hitting a lot of golf balls. The weather back in Nashville isn’t amazing right now, but I’m super happy to come down here to Mexico and speak some Spanish. I took Spanish four years in high school, so I’m really happy I chose that over Latin. I’m having so much fun here at the resort and I can’t wait for the next two days.
