Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has been called up for Sweden’s World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo in September, despite ongoing rumours about his future at St James’ Park.

Isak continues to push for a move away from Newcastle following Liverpool’s bid for the striker earlier this summer. The Reds submitted a £120m package for the Swedish attacker in August, which was turned down by the Tyneside club.

Following the transfer speculation, Isak has trained away from the Magpies’ first team squad and has not featured in any of Eddie Howe’s matchday squads this season.

However, Jon Dahl Tomasson decided to include the 25-year-old in his September squad and Isak is expected to link up with the Swedish national team for the September qualifiers, despite the lack of playing time this season.

Will Isak secure a move to Anfield before the end of the window?
