In a statement published on its website, Olympique de Marseille announced that Amine Gouiri will undergo shoulder surgery after his injury with Algeria against Uganda.
“Olympique de Marseille informs that its forward Amine Gouiri is going to have surgery on his right shoulder. This procedure, decided by mutual agreement between the player and the club, follows several dislocation episodes in recent months.
Amine will undergo a rehabilitation period estimated at around three months.
This operation was chosen with a clear objective: to allow Amine to regain full physical capacity without apprehension and to come back stronger on the pitch.
The entire club wishes Amine a speedy recovery and will support him throughout his convalescence.”
This is therefore a major blow for OM, but also for Algeria, who may have to do without their striker for the AFCON, which begins on December 18.
