Real Oviedo ends the first half ahead against Barça in a memorable way: with a shot practically from midfield into an empty net.
It’s not the end of the match because it all happened in the 33rd minute, when Joan Garcia came well out of his area to recover the ball. However, the goalkeeper made a mistake with the pass and handed the ball to Alberto Reina.
The Real Oviedo midfielder struck it first time and landed the ball directly on the goal line, preventing the defenders from reaching it.
This is also the only goal of the first half, with the club from Asturias leading.
An error in judgment by Barça’s new goalkeeper, who was bought for 25 million in the summer from Espanyol. The 2001-born player has consistently benched Szczesny, who at the start of the season commented: “My role this season is to prepare Joan García in the best possible way for the matches. I think he is a goalkeeper with incredible potential, already among the best in Europe.”
